Iranian Film About Prophet Muhammad reap Criticism


The film depicted the Muslim prophet who will soon appear on Iranian condemnation.

Iranian film director Majid Majidi entitled 'Muhammad, the Messenger of God' describes the life of the Prophet when he was young.


This film does not show the face of the apostle, but only his back. However, these measures are considered taboo in Islam and depictions of the prophet have sparked violence in the past.


In a 190-minute length movies, the story is told by the Apostle other figures, one of which was his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, played by actor Iran Ali Reza Nouri Shoja.


"How are we supposed to introduce our Prophet? Many conveyed his message to the whole world through cinema and image," said Majidi quoted from page Dream.co.id ABCNews, Sunday, March 29, 2015. 

"By making this high-quality films, will give the right impression of the Prophet Muhammad to the world," added Majidi.

But this film attracted plenty of critics, although not yet released. Most damning assume figure of the Prophet should not be displayed at all.


One of them came from the University of Al-Azhar in Egypt are urged Iran banned the film in circulation. Al-Azhar reasoned showing the figure of the Prophet will destroy the sanctity of the Prophet.


With the US $ 30 million, the film is called the most expensive in the history of filmmaking in Iran. The film is scheduled to be released this year, but it is not certain date.


The latest movie that tells the story of the Prophet Muhammad was produced by Nourtaban Film Industry and will be available in Arabic, Persian and English.


Nourtaban Chairman, Mohammad Mahdi Heidarian, declined to comment on who contributes the making of this film.


Meanwhile, Qatar has announced plans to make a film that tells the life of the Prophet counter at a cost of US $ 1 billion.


The Iranian government itself, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, supports filming Muhammad, Messenger of God. Khamenei even were present at the inauguration of a movie set in the village in 2012 Allahyar ago.


Making this film takes a year, while post-production made in Germany it took two years. And if the film is successful, its producers said they would make two sequels.


"The sequel will focus on the life of Prophet Muhammad from his youth up to the age of the 40s and the rest after the age of 40 when he became the prophet of Muslims."
