Cancer is one of the deadly disease that is feared by everyone. A study in the journal Molecular and Cellular Oncology found that simple substances in extra virgin olive oil was able to kill cancer cells. These substances are known as oleochantal (or OC), as reported by the Daily Health Post (12/03).

Researchers were surprised to find that OC substances can cause rapid cell death. This substance can kill cancer cells in just 30 minutes. Better yet, since this substance does not cause any effect on cancer cells.

Actual health effects of oleochantal already not new anymore. A study in 2014 revealed that the OC can provide an anti-inflammatory effect and the effect of chemotherapy on patients.

Olive oil is also known to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease and osteoporosis, and prevent diseases associated with old age. To maintain health and prevent cancer, extra virgin olive oil can be used for cooking.
